Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Faces a New Chapter Without Xavier
Season 2 of Netflix’s hit show Wednesday returned with a major character missing — Xavier Thorpe, played by Percy Hynes White. The show’s premiere on August 6 wasted no time addressing his sudden departure.
In the first episode, viewers learned through new Nevermore principal Barry Dort (played by Steve Buscemi) that Xavier transferred to Reichenbach Academy in Switzerland. The move came after his father pulled him out of Nevermore following false murder accusations.
“He’s heading to Reichenbach Academy in Switzerland,” Principal Dort told Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega). “After the incident, his father withdrew his endowment and support.”
Later in the episode, Wednesday receives a cryptic goodbye gift from Xavier — a painting of a crow perched on a headstone, with a note hinting at an unsolved mystery.
White’s exit follows sexual assault allegations that surfaced after Season 1. Though the 23-year-old actor denied all claims in a lengthy Instagram post, the controversy led to the show quietly writing his character out.
Jenna Ortega recently called the show’s shift a “weird redirect” but emphasized the focus on new characters and a fresh storyline.
Despite the scandal, Netflix has not publicly commented on the allegations. However, showrunners confirmed that Wednesday will continue with new faces and spinoffs exploring the Addams Family universe.
Season 2, Part 1 is now streaming, with Part 2 set to premiere September 3.
